The building department has spent the last few months browsing through the archives, since the city wants to redesign the square in front of the opera house on an interim basis. Wild growing grasses and blooming shrubs had been considered. But this project was rejected by the monument protection authorities.
Recently, the building department discovered the old plans, which were drawn up at the end of Max Joseph’s reign but never implemented. It is precisely these ideas that the building department now wants to realize. The new square should be ready in the fall of 2025.
